SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY
Judo is a very physical activity, utilizing throwing techniques as well as advanced grappling techniques. At the Yungwirth Judo Academy, we take the safety of all of our students and team members as our highest responsibility. We understand that no one can improve without training partners and we strive to keep everyone who steps on the mat healthy and injury free. We attempt to mitigate the risks and hazards by creating a safe training environment through providing a high quality facility, qualified instructors and a sense of community and respect amongst our teammates.
OUR TRAINING FLOOR
We utilize a top of the line floating floor system. The underlayment is made of strategically placed foam blocks over two levels of plywood as the sub-floor. On top of that, we have laid 2” professional grade Dollamur Flexi-Roll mats to provide maximum absorption when taking falls. This is truly a beautiful flooring system and all of our teammates appreciate the safe and “alive” feeling the floor provides. See images of our team building the floor by clicking below.
OUR LEADERSHIP
All of our instructors possess current SafeSport certification, the CDC’s Concussion Management Training and a current background screen as mandated by USA Judo and the US Olympic Committee.
OUR CODE
At the Academy, we have a strict code of mutual respect for all of our training partners. One of the overriding tenets of judo training, as established by Dr. Jigoro Kano, is “Mutual Benefit and Welfare” for all.
